Amici Wine Bar & Deli

Tucked away on Northbourne Avenue in Canberra, Amici Wine Bar & Deli effortlessly blends the charm of an Italian deli with the laid-back sophistication of a modern wine bar. If you're someone who appreciates hand-picked wines, live music, and Mediterranean-inspired fare that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this spot will feel like a second home.

From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone. The layout is open yet intimate, and whether you choose the cozy indoor seating or the breezy outdoor tables, there’s always a hint of something happening-maybe it’s the live band setting up in the corner or the clink of glasses from a birthday toast nearby. Accessibility is also thoughtfully covered, with a wheelchair-friendly car park, entrance, and seating throughout the venue.

Food-wise, Amici Wine Bar & Deli leans heavily into quality ingredients and Mediterranean flair. The Capricciosa Pizza comes out hot and perfectly charred, with the ideal balance of savory ham, mushrooms, and olives atop a crispy base. If you’re the kind who likes to nibble while you sip, the Antipasto plate and Cheese Plate make for a strong duo, especially when paired with something from their impressive wine list-whether you're in the mood for a light Pinot Grigio or a deep, moody Shiraz.

And let’s talk about that wine list for a moment. This isn’t your average “house red or white” situation. The team at Amici has clearly put time into curating bottles that pair beautifully with their food menu, but also stand on their own. If cocktails are more your style, don’t miss the Black Manhattan-it’s rich, velvety, and as sultry as its name suggests.

The deli side of the menu brings in a unique flair. The Meatball Sandwich is a sleeper hit-pillowy bread hugging tender, saucy meatballs with just the right amount of provolone to tie everything together. For something lighter, the Mediterranean Salad offers a crisp, refreshing mix of fresh greens, olives, and feta, all tossed in a lemony vinaigrette that tastes like summer in Amalfi. Craving something sweet? The Ricotta Cannoli or their Baked Cheesecake with Vanilla Gelato should do the trick-each bite feels indulgent without being over-the-top.

Amici also does an excellent job catering to a wide range of diners. Whether you're grabbing a quiet solo lunch, organizing a dinner date, or picking up dinner through kerbside pickup, there's a clear understanding that convenience matters just as much as flavor. With options like no-contact delivery, drive-through, and takeaway, the team ensures flexibility for modern lifestyles.

Another small but mighty detail that sets Amici Wine Bar & Deli apart? It proudly identifies as women-owned, and there's a palpable sense of heart and personal touch that shows in both the service and the attention to detail in every dish. That kind of ownership often brings a stronger sense of community and care-something you can taste and feel from the first bite to the last sip.

Live music, too, adds to the vibe in all the right ways. Not intrusive, but just enough to elevate the atmosphere, especially during weekend evenings when the energy rises and the wine flows more freely. It’s easy to lose track of time here, caught between conversation, cheese boards, and soft acoustic sets.

If you're in Canberra and looking for a place that combines the best of casual sophistication with culinary charm, Amici Wine Bar & Deli deserves a spot on your radar. Whether you're here for a pizza and cocktail combo, or just want to relax with a glass of red and some prosciutto, this place brings the “amici” (friends) spirit to life in every corner.

This establishment is a ray of sunshine in a dismal part of Canberra. I ordered a takeaway pizza (Capricciosa) and it’s was one of The best pizzas I have eaten. The pizza was super fresh and had been prepared amazingly well, the flavours were outstanding. It’s a little wonder that they get patronage while other places around them seem to struggle. The staff were great, service was fast and of course the food was fantastic. Coming to Canberra for work, it has been a struggle trying to find decent food in this part of town.
